Frequently Asked Questions

What is Rising Tide?

Rising Tide is a Start-Up Ecosystem Growth Fund that accelerates the number of innovative businesses in Dunedin by connecting great ideas to early stage funding, and creating better founders.

I can't submit my form. What should I do?

Try submitting the form through a different browser e.g Google Chrome. If the form still fails, email us here

How will I find out if I have been selected?

We will get in touch with you via email after each stage of the application process.

When will I find out if I’ve made it through?

We will select 10 candidates to pitch to our panel who will then select the successful applicants. We will notify those applicants by email a day after the pitch. Successful participants from this Pitch Night will be invited to present an extended pitch to the PetriDen consultants.

Where do I work from?

Selected participants will receive a 3 month sponsorship at Petridish.

Do we need to write a business plan?

No, we don't request business plans. We make decisions based on application forms and the pitches we hear.

Will you sign an NDA?

We don't have any formalised procedures around privacy. Your application will only be used for the purpose of selecting start-ups and providing targeted support. Your information will not be shared publicly.

Our group has two ideas. Can we submit two applications?

We don't recommend it. Pick your favourite idea and apply with one.

Can a single person apply?

Yes, we accept solo founders.

We've already been working on our start-up for a while. Is it appropriate for us?

What if we're doing something expensive?

We'll still help you, but instead of trying to build something launchable in four months, the goal becomes to build an impressive proof of concept to take to later stage investors to raise more capital.

Do we need to incorporate before applying?

Who is on the PetriDen Panel?

It is a revolving panel consisting of some of Dunedin's most experienced Start Up advisors and mentors.

Please note that winners must be willing and able to work on their start-up  (that’s what the Rising Tide Fund is for, so you have to dedicate your time to grow your business)!
